I left Bikram last night feeling just as good and just as acomplished as the night before. I reached back and found my feet in Camel again and held it for the duration of the pose. Coming out of it I felt the dizziness again, but simply laid back down in Savasana to let it pass.

Drenched to the bone I took the 43 home to shower and looked forward to passing out hard. Which didn't happen. I slept so horribly. Monday night too. The evening classes I assumed would help me sleep well throughout the night but I tossed and turned and woke up several times. Hmmph. Weird.

It wasn't so hard to get up at 5:30 to make Iyengar this morning since I was already awake at 4:45AM. I had missed Iyengar last week due to being out at the Decemberists concert late, but Brian wasn't teaching anyways. Today, I knew Brian was back so I was pretty excited.

Iyengar is a lesson in alignment and bringing your attention to the muscles you are using in a yoga posture. I've learned that due to muscle weakness other muscles compensate to make up the work the weak muscles cannot do which causes imbalances. This class is fairly slow as you take time to use your brain to feel out what muscles grip and which ones let go. This helps me in my Bikram and Vinyasa practices recognize what I need to strengthen.

This morning's class was hard. My brain definitely wasn't awake when Brian noted to move my femur back into place and push and I couldn't figure out what my femur was. Sometimes it's just nice to just go with the flow in Bikram wihtout much thought. Iyengar feels like a lot of brain work sometimes. So while I didn't have the best practice today, I was pretty happy with myself when I left class to grab my tea before work.

Nothing like a tough Iyengar class to knock your ego down a few notches. And yeah, shoulderstand is still my nemesis. I can't believe I still have this much trouble with it. I would like to use my 20 lbs of boob flesh as an excuse, but I really just need to work on my back and shoulder strength. It's pretty horrifying to swing your legs up and have your chest come at your face threatening to suffocate you.

I'm still the fatest girl in this class. Oh well. You can't win them all.

I'm cranky beyond measure today and this has me craving something bad for me, like a buritto. Godamnit, Chipotle, why do you taunt me so? Why oh why is a fajita buritto with cheese but no sour cream still over 1000 calories? Why?!?
